In 2020, the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board expects to keep up the same pace of marketing activities as last year, in accordance with the Action and Objectives Plan drawn up jointly with the private sector. The designation of 2020 as Sports Tourism Year sets the stage for exciting new tourism marketing actions for Girona’s destinations. Highlights of January include the publication of the 2019 Catalan tourism statistics, the launch of the Girona Pyrenees ski season marketing campaign and the presentation of the 2020 tourism trade show calendar. Lastly, various local figures and entities from Girona gained recognition in the 2019 Catalan Tourism Awards.
2019 was a record year in Catalonia for annual tourist visits, with 19.3 million foreign tourists, and expenditure increased by 4.3%. The province of Girona welcomed 7.9 million visitors and registered 25.8 million overnight stays.
