80 French travel agents and media influencers showed an interest in the tourist activities on offer in the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees during the 2021 season.
On 25 and 26 March, on a stage set up beneath the dome of the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres and streamed on the specific platform used for the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board’s events, the first promotional and commercial action aimed at the French distribution agent market was held, Voyage virtuel au cœur de la Costa Brava et des Pyrénées de Gérone. The audience were shown the destination’s tourist activities and new products and services for this year, as well as the anti-COVID measures adopted by the destinations and tourist businesses in order to welcome visitors and clients. The action brought together fifty-five travel agents and representatives from event planning companies and sixty professionals from Girona’s tourist sector. Over the course of two days, a programme of presentations and promotional activities was carried out in addition to a series of one-to-one consultations that resulted in 486 business meetings.
Prior to this action, on 16 March the Board held an online press conference addressed to twenty-five French media outlets specialised in tourism and travel in the region of Occitania and the metropolitan area of Lyon with the aim of encouraging them to promote the destination among their audiences.
While restrictions on mobility due to the pandemic remain in place, the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board has been creating innovate virtual events with an impact designed to inform distribution agents and media outlets in source markets about the tourist products and services on offer in the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees destinations. A promotional and commercial action aimed at the Benelux source market has been planned for April.
