The Patronat de Turisme gives a talk on the impact of promotional initiatives on social networks at the WTM2011

MARCH 2014

From 7th to 10th November the Patronat de Turisme took part in the London World Travel Market, presenting the tourism offer of the Costa Brava and the Pirineu de Girona to tourism professionals and end users in the British market. The towns and cities of Castell-Platja d’Aro, Lloret de Mar, Blanes and Girona, together with tourism companies from the area (Bravasol Viatges, Empordà Golf Resort, Traditional Tours, Traveltec, Bravo Tourism and Petits Grans Hotels de Catalunya) took part in the WTM as part of the Catalonia stand.

The Patronat de Turisme promoted and provided information on tourism products such as sun and sand, culture, health and beauty, golf, greenways, hiking, nautical activities, gastronomy, skiing and cruise ship tourism in the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona destinations. The fair was a meeting point for the most important travel agents, tour operators and tourism companies in the country. The Patronat de Turisme held meetings with companies such as Railbookers, HostelBookers, Tui Travel and Mice Focus to exchange information and discover at first hand which of our destination's products and services are of interest to British tourists.

The WTM included a parallel programme of presentations, seminars and debates on the latest trends in the industry in fields as diverse as technological innovation and online travel, eco-tourism, MICE, cruise tourism, sports tourism, tour operating, luxury travel and short breaks, etc. Within this context, and for the first time, the social media programme organisers invited the Patronat de Turisme to give a talk. The talk, given on Tuesday 8th November to an audience of tourism professionals from other world-renowned destinations, examined the impact of promotional initiatives on social media, focusing in particular on the blogtrips that have taken place on the Costa Brava and in the Pirineu de Girona. The Patronat de Turisme is fast becoming one of the world's leading organisations in tourism promotion through blogs.
