The Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona is sponsoring the Wikiartmap, through which artistic and cultural heritage is disseminated online

Wikiartmap is an unprecedented global platform for the national and international dissemination of art, heritage and creation in public spaces. It is a tool that can be used free of charge, a new communication medium that enables creators, cultural agents and organisations to disseminate their heritage and works on a platform with international reach and dynamic content.
Girona Provincial Council and the Patronat de Turisme are sponsoring the Wikiartmap project because they are committed to the coordinated global dissemination of open cultural content in several languages on the Costa Brava and the Pirineu de Girona destination through the use of new technologies, and because it is a free dissemination tool that is very useful for bodies that work in public spaces. By lending its support to the project, the Patronat de Turisme is making clear its commitment and interest in structuring the cultural offer of the area from the tourism perspective.
In this respect, in 2013 it will be working on the start-up of a new product marketing club, the Culture and Identity Tourism Club of the counties of Girona, through which it aims to bring together the entire offer, and will promote the destination in a segmented manner in the main outbound tourism markets.
Wikiartmap project, a lively cultural dissemination platform
Wikiartmap is a virtual platform, a website of open content that, in Wiki format and with Google mapping, enables information on art, creation and historical and cultural heritage in public spaces (i.e. outdoors) to be located and consulted. It also includes information on related facilities, events and document archives.
The new tool, which can be explored at wikiartmap, offers a new way of approaching artistic creation on a global scale through a graphic interface that offers visual and intuitive interaction as well as incorporating existing open content. It is an innovative platform that at the same time enables users to insert, administer and edit new content free of charge.
Wikiartmap is a project that enjoys the support of the Ministry of Culture, Girona Provincial Council, the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, Figueres City Council and the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Euroregion, along with the involvement and expert advice of agents from various sectors, such as innovation, culture, technology and communication.
