Transpyr 2013

300 participants from 15 countries have entered this year's race

MARCH 2014

The 2013 Transpyr mountain bike race from Roses in Catalonia to San Sebastian in the Basque Country will take place from 6th to 13th July. The opening stage is from Roses to Camprodon. The stages, which are completed using GPS coordinates, have an average distance of over 100 km and an average elevation gain of approximately 2,500 m. One of the novelties this year is a race for road bikes, Transpyr Road, which will take place at the same time as the mountain bike race. This year the number of entries is up 25% on last year with 300 entries from 15 countries.

The presentation of the fourth Transpyr race (Transpyr 2013) took place on 16th May in the citadel of Roses and was attended by the minister for enterprise and employment of the government of Catalonia, Felip Puig, the mayor of Roses, Carles Pàramo, and the president of the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board, Joan Giraut, among other dignitaries.

Girona Provincial Council, through the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board and representing the Pirineus brand, is supporting the organisation of this event, a showcase sporting activity that contributes to boosting the economy and tourism activity of the towns along the race route, as well as contributing to raising the international profile of the Catalan Pyrenees.

It represents an opportunity for positioning this brand and promoting it among enthusiasts of nature activities in general and mountain biking in particular.
