MARCH 2014

On 25th October, the Patronat de Turisme is holding its eighth training day, entitled "Innovation in tourism companies: structuring, communication and marketing", aimed at professionals from the tourism sector, public administration bodies and Catalan companies.

The goal of this day is to provide those taking part with tools for redefining strategies and fully optimising the possibilities that the Internet and these channels offer in order for them to adapt their corporate management and business model accordingly. At the same time, it will be an excellent occasion for networking and chatting to experts in tourism and Web 2.0, such as Jimmy Pons, Gaby Castellanos, SrBurns CEO, a company that specialises in social media and brand strategy, and Mercedes Sánchez, Territory Manager – Business Listings, Spain & Portugal, from the online travel community Tripadvisor.

The day, which begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m., is split into dynamic sessions and round table discussions led by experts and will focus on topics such as communication with customers and the management of marketing channels, looking at successful examples including PlanB, El Brogit and Oci Vital, among others, moderated by JA Donaire.

The day aims to encourage the sector to remain committed to innovation and continuous training in order for the destination to maintain its position of leadership.

Prior to the training day, two practical and specific workshops will be held that complement the training.

The first of these, entitled "Gastronomic Marketing", has been scheduled for 4thOctober 2011 and will be led by Erika Sofia Silva, who runs a blog on new trends in Gastronomic Marketing. This workshop will look at gastronomic trends and their purpose, what motivates gastronomic customers, how to produce a profitable menu or how to apply neuromarketing in menus. The session will take place at the Espai del Peix gastronomic facility in Palamós fish market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The second workshop, entitled "Wikiloc", will be led by Montserrat Jordi, director of the Wikiloc.com company. This practical session will show those taking part how to create GPS routes using the Wikiloc platform, entering the actual routes and finding out how to promote them on the Internet. The workshop will take place in Fornells de la Selva from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free of charge.
