Training day: 360º Tourism

120 tourism sector professionals take part in the eighth training day, while 150 follow the event online through the streaming service.

MARCH 2014

On 25th October, the Patronat de Turisme held its eighth training day, entitled "Innovation in tourism companies: structuring, communication and marketing", aimed at professionals from the tourism sector, public administration bodies and Catalan companies.

The goal of this day was to provide those taking part with tools for redefining strategies and fully optimising the possibilities that the Internet and these channels offer in order for them to adapt their corporate management and business model accordingly. At the same time it was an excellent opportunity for networking and chatting to experts in tourism and Web 2.0: Jimmy Pons, Gaby Castellanos (CEO of SrBurns, a company dedicated to the design and development of social identity and personal branding) and Mercedes Sánchez (Territory Manager – Business Listings Spain & Portugal of the TripAdvisor online travel community). The expert-led dynamic sessions and round table discussions dealt with issues such as customer communication and the management of marketing channels, as well as looking at successful cases such as PlanB, El Brogit or Oci Vital. The moderator for the sessions was the Manager of Insetur, J. A. Donaire.

The large attendance numbers and interest shown by the professionals who took part have led the Patronat de Turisme to consider organising a ninth professional day with leading speakers to continue to provide training in the quality and creation of experiences, enabling us to stand out from other competing tourist destinations.

The talks, comments and opinions of the training day participants and delegates were broadcast live for the first time via a streaming service on the www.costabrava.org website and the Twitter site, and using the hashtag #formacioGI.

Prior to the training day, two practical and specific workshops were held that complemented the training. The first "Gastronomic marketing" workshop, led by Erika Sofia Silva, who manages the Gastronomic Marketing blog, devoted to new trends, was held on 4th October, bringing together 25 professionals. This workshop looked at gastronomic trends, their purpose and the factors that motivate gastronomic customers. It also showed how to create a profitable menu and how to apply neuromarketing in menus. The second workshop, entitled "Wikiloc", was led by Montserrat Jordi, director of the Wikiloc.com company, and was attended by thirty professionals from the sector. This practical session showed those taking part how to create GPS routes using the Wikiloc platform, entering the actual routes and promoting them on the Internet.
