Traditional boats sail along the Costa Brava displaying the Centenary flag

A group of traditional boats sailed together along the Costa Brava from 9th to 12th April in a display of a special way of sailing and experiencing the sea, coinciding with the celebrations of the Centenary of the Costa Brava.

MARCH 2014

The aim was to bring this type of sailing to each of the towns included along the route: Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Sant Antoni de Calonge and Palamós, as a tribute and display of a special way of sailing and experiencing the sea that is finding fresh support through the “Slow Sailing Manifesto”.

The Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona supported this sea trip as part of the celebrations of the Centenary of the Costa Brava and provided the boats taking part with flags displaying the Centenary logo.

The sailing took place very close to the coastline so that the general public could enjoy the manoeuvres of the old vessels. This maritime event was complemented by a series of activities on dry land in each of the towns included along the route. www.lamardamics.com
