The Gastronomic Tour in August

The towns of Cadaqués and Tossa de Mar host the Costa Brava San Miguel Gastronomic Tour in August.

MARCH 2014

The 22nd Lateen Sailing Regatta in Cadaqués and the 54th International Fast Painting Competition in Tossa de Mar have hosted the Costa Brava San Miguel Gastronomic Tour in August. As in the previous stages of the tour, the tasters offered at the tour marquee gave visitors to the two tourist towns the chance to discover some of the most traditional dishes of Costa Brava cuisine.

In Cadaqués, the Lateen Sailing Regatta, held annually for the last 22 years by the town’s Friends of Lateen Sailing Association, was the chosen cultural event of the tour to offer nine tasters prepared by local restaurants involved in the Costa Brava Menu initiative. The Gastronomic Tour marquee was placed on the seafront promenade. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. it offered tasters of squid stuffed with Catalan country sausage, foie gras and wild mushrooms; escalivada (grilled red peppers, aubergines and onions) with anchovies; tomato-rubbed bread with anchovies; piquillo peppers stuffed with cod; dry ratatouille pie with white kidney beans and cod brandade; tuna tartare; Empordà fritters; and cottage cheese mousse with raspberries.

The Gastronomic Tour was also present on Sunday 29th August in Tossa de Mar, where the International Fast Painting Competition took place, now in its 54th year. The tour marquee was situated on Passeig de Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer and offered tasters of smoked salted sardine, pepper, potato and olive kebab; snails in sauce; chicken with Norway lobsters; scorpion fish suquet with potatoes and squid; Catalan custard mousse; and cottage cheese mousse with raspberries.

Having completed these two stages, the Gastronomic Tour will end in September with its final stops at the Indianos Fair in Begur and the Land of Troubadours Festival in Castelló d’Empúries.
