The Centenary of the Costa Brava at Fitur 2010

The Costa Brava San Miguel Gastronomic Tour and the Nessun Dorma accessible tourism project were presented at Fitur in Madrid.

MARCH 2014

The Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, with the Centenary of the Costa Brava, was present at the Madrid’s International Tourism Fair, Fitur, where it unveiled two projects: the Costa Brava San Miguel Gastronomic Tour and the Nessun Dorma round-the-world charity yacht trip, which are taking place in this final year of the Centenary. It also promoted the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona brands at its stand.

The President of Girona Provincial Council, Enric Vilert, the Director of Sponsorship of the San Miguel company, Joan Sardà, and the Head of the Office of the Centenary of the Costa Brava, Carme Polo, unveiled the Costa Brava San Miguel Gastronomic Tour. This tourism product brings together the matching of beer and good food within the various fairs and popular, traditional and important events that take place from May to September 2010. During the presentation, Mr. Vilert recalled that that the Patronat de Turisme presented the Centenary of the Costa Brava at last year’s Fitur and that since then several tourism products have been developed, including the Costa Brava Menu, the Gastronomic Tour itself and a Menu which is about to be presented for matching beer with products from the Costa Brava, all of which are based on one of the Girona coast’s most solid assets: gastronomy.

A fold-out leaflet on the Gastronomic Tour, with a schedule of the cultural events taking place in the towns that form part of the promotion, was also presented and distributed at Fitur. This is the first promotional publication of the Gastronomic Tour and will be followed up by the release of a more detailed catalogue scheduled for the spring.

Meanwhile, the Catalonia stand also hosted the presentation of the accessible tourism offer of the Costa Brava and the Nessun Dorma around-the-world charity yacht trip, presided over by Jordi Martinoy, Delegate of the Catalan Government in Girona, Dolors Batallé, Director of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, and Marco Enric Bou, the businessman behind the Nessun Dorma project. During the presentation, the Director of the Patronat de Turisme explained that the destination currently offers resources, facilities and activities that are accessible for visitors with reduced mobility or autonomy, enabling them to carry out visits or sports and leisure activities throughout their stay in the area.

The Patronat de Turisme is sponsoring the Nessun Dorma, a yacht designed to be used by people with reduced mobility, with two goals in mind: to raise the profile of the Costa Brava all over the world and to publicise tourism that is accessible for everybody, the volume of which growing all the time.
