Support for destinations

Cultural, wine and gastronomic and sporting events raise the destination’s profile and boost summer tourism

SEPTEMBER 2014

The Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board supports public and private cultural, gastronomic and sporting initiatives in the Girona region that help boost the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees brands. A presentation was given in Barcelona's Palau Robert on 4 September, aimed at the city's residents, tourists and the media, in order to promote the 24th Terra de Trobadors de Castelló d’Empúries mediaeval festival held on 12, 13 and 14 September. A sporting event which also helped promote the region took place on 20 September. The "Vies Braves, non stop 13.7" competition involved 25 experienced swimmers who took on the challenge of ten sea swims, covering a total of 13 km, in a single highly programmed and organised day. On 21 September, Girona Provincial Council and the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board took part in an event to support the elBullifoundation project in Cala Montjoi, organised by the Roses - Cap de Creus Nautical Station and the Roses Traders Association (Roses Comerç). 300 people attended the event, at which a manifesto supporting the elBulli1846 project was read out. They included representatives of some 50 Catalan social and business institutions, organisations and groups. World Tourism Day was celebrated on 29 September with an event in Masarac organised by the Girona Hotels Federation, in which Girona Provincial Council and the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board participated. The event was attended by 200 people including representatives of different sectors of the tourism industry in Girona province.
