Girona Football Club's first team is now sporting the “G! Costa Brava” logo with the goal of promoting the destination.
Girona Provincial Council, the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona and Girona Football Club have joined forces to encourage football playing, to support high-level competition for the 2010-2011 season and to promote the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona tourism brands.
The President of Girona Provincial Council and of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, Enric Vilert, and the President of Girona FC, Ramon Vilaró, have signed a collaboration agreement worth 160,000 euros that will run until 30th July 2011.
By virtue of this agreement, the role of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona in the project is to promote the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona tourism brands through the placement of the "G! Costa Brava" logo on the shirts of the club's first team. The brands will also be advertised on other advertising display units (pitch hoardings) and promotional actions will also be organised in conjunction with the club, targeted at the supporters of visiting teams.
Some of the planned initiatives include promotional actions in the cities where Girona FC's first team plays its away matches, the offering of promotional and gastronomic products in the VIP boxes of visiting teams and the distribution of promotional information and items.
Furthermore, the Patronat de Turisme will provide the club with business contacts, including tourism companies and incoming travel agencies in the Girona area, to help it create tourism packages or activities for the travelling supporters of away teams. It will also provide technical support for publishing the Girona Football Club sports calendar, the background of which will feature destinations of the counties of Girona.
Meanwhile, Girona Football Club will place a banner ad of the official portal of the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona (operated by the Patronat) on its official club website.
The Patronat de Turisme and the Gastronomic Forum will exploit all the synergies possible in terms of advertising and brand presence with the goal of raising the tourism profile of the counties of Girona. This agreement strengthens the promotional actions carried out by the Patronat de Turisme in various Spanish destinations, a local tourism market that is considered one of its priorities.
Girona Provincial Council offers support to sports organisations for the promotion and boosting of grass-roots sport, as well as to sports initiatives that are considered standard bearers within the counties of Girona as a whole and that facilitate this promotional work.
