SITC 2010

The Patronat de Turisme participated in the 19th SITC (International Tourism Fair of Catalonia) from 15th to 18th April, together with 14 organisations and companies from the Girona area.

At the 195 m2 Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona stand, information and promotional material was handed out to fair visitors on the area’s tourism offer, as well as on products related to culture, health and beauty, golf, greenways, hiking, nautical tourism, gastronomy and skiing etc. Specific documentation for professionals of the tourism sector was also made available.

The organisations and companies from the Girona area who took part were: the tourist offices of Blanes, Lloret de Mar, L’Estartit and L’Escala-Empúries; the Vall d’Aro Campsite and Interpals Campsite; Solineu Hotels; El Gironès County Council; the Garrotxa Tourism Association; the Ripollès Desenvolupament Consortium; the Vall de Núria resort; La Cerdanya Tourist Board; the product marketing associations for Golf, Health and Beauty, and Nautical Tourism of the Costa Brava, which form part of the Patronat; and the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona itself, representing the tourism offer of the Girona area as a whole.

Girona’s presence at this year’s SITC involved several novelties, including the presentations that took place on the first two days of the fair of the Costa Brava San Miguel Gastronomic Tour; the new booking engine on the portal of the Patronat; the Medes Islands Natural Park; the Rambla-Argenteria and El Tarlà Spring Festivals in Girona; the Cerdanya 360º and Trinxat mountain bike trails in Cerdanya; the Essence of L’Empordà in Torroella de Montgrí; and the ancient sea traders’ route of L’Escala. The stand also displayed food and craft products to familiarise fair visitors with the Girona area, and held tastings of local products from the counties of Girona.

The Patronat de Turisme participated in SITC with the Catalan market in mind; the residents of Barcelona and Greater Barcelona are a priority target in the tourism promotion of the Girona brands.
