Radio campaign

Five leading radio programmes are broadcast from various places in the Girona area to publicise the destination in the Catalan, Spanish and Italian markets.

The Patronat de Turisme has implemented a new initiative to promote and publicise the tourism offer of the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona destinations through a radio advertising campaign on stations in leading outbound tourism markets for the destination: Catalunya Ràdio, RNE (Spain), Radio Euskadi (Basque Country) and Radiolina (Sardinia).

The five radio programmes broadcast live from various places in the Girona area have featured local dignitaries (President of Girona Provincial Council and of the Patronat de Turisme, mayors, local councillors), writers and journalists, and businessmen and women from the tourism and restaurant sector, among others. These magazine shows have offered information on the social, cultural, political and economic issues currently affecting the local area, while highlighting the tourism attractions and values of the Girona destination.

Prior to each of the live broadcasts, the radio stations in question have announced the upcoming programme, mentioning and publicising the destination. The programmes have featured prize draws and special holiday break promotions in the area for listeners.

PROGRAMMES

4th May_ "La Tribu" (from 4 p.m to 7 p.m.) on Catalunya Ràdio, hosted by Tatiana Sisquella, broadcast from Torroella de Montgrí.

11th May_ "Bulevard" (from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.) on Radio Euskadi, hosted by Vanesa Rodríguez and Eider Bilbao, broadcast from Girona. During the broadcast a live connection was made to the Expovacaciones fair taking place in Bilbao, through which the interest of the Basque general public in the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona destination became clear.

19th May_ "Tutto of weekend" (from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) on Radiolina, the regional broadcaster of the island of Sardinia, which boasts more than 10,000 listeners, broadcast from Girona. Over the course of the broadcast, Radiolina connected with the city of Sassari, coinciding with the promotional initiative “Enjoy Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona” being held there.

26th and 27th May_ "No es un día cualquiera" (from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.) on RNE, hosted by Pepa Fernández, broadcast from Olot and Girona, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Patronat de Turisme also collaborated with the "Anda ya" programme on Cadena Ser 40 Principales, broadcast from Girona on 18th May.

The radio advertising campaign targeting the Catalan, Spanish, Basque and Sardinian markets has been viewed positively by the Girona towns that have taken part, while at the same time contributing to raising the profile of the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona brands.
