Event in Israel to promote the Catalan Pyrenees and Jewish heritage

The Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board showcased the tourism offering of the destination, in particular that of the Girona Pyrenees, along with the Jewish heritage of the Girona area, to representatives of three important wholesale travel agencies (Kokopeli Adventure, Travel Nexus and Astha & Suranga) during an event organised for the 20 leading Israeli tour operators in Tel Aviv's Carlton Hotel on 10th November.
The Israeli tour operators Kokopeli Adventure, Travel Nexus and Astha & Suranga programme group tours with the focus on culture and activities such as hiking, mountain biking and 4x4 trails in the Pyrenees and in the towns of the Girona area with Jewish heritage: Girona, Besalú and Castelló d’Empúries. Israeli tourists who visit Catalonia show an interest in FC Barcelona, Jewish heritage, culture and nature in inland Catalonia and of the Catalan Pyrenees.
As a result of the event, directors of the Israeli airline El Al have announced that in 2014 the company will increase the frequency of flights between Tel Aviv and Barcelona by 20%, bringing the total to 11 weekly flights.
This presentation took place as part of the institutional visit made by the Government of Catalonia, headed by President Artur Mas, to Tel Aviv from 9th to 13th November, aimed at strengthening academic, technological and commercial ties with the country.
