Promotion in Canada

A total of 45 travel agents, prescribers and communication media from Quebec discover the Costa Brava and its wine tourism products.

A promotional action was undertaken jointly on 14 and 15 May by the Catalan Tourist Board, the Costa Daurada Tourist Board and the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board, through the DO Empordà Wine Route, to promote three wine tourism destinations in the Canadian market, leveraging the good air connections between Quebec and Barcelona.

During the encounters, held at two venues in Montreal, 30 travel agents and a score of Canadian communication media and digital content creators had the opportunity to interact with representatives of the three organisations and tourism brands, who presented the destinations to the attendees. One of the event's participants was Audrey Doré, the sommelier at the Michelin-starred restaurant El Celler de Can Roca, who conducted a tasting of wines from the Empordà and Costa Daurada Appellations of Origin, followed by a tasting of traditional Catalan products and recipes.

The Tourist Board's first promotional mission in Canada has been rated very positively; it provided opportunities for presenting the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees destinations and brands and contributed to disseminating and marketing tourism products and experiences offered by Girona-based wine tourism companies. The action was also featured in the local media and, as a result, a number of fam and press trips will be organised to the province of Girona in autumn 2024 and spring 2025.
