Press trips

47 journalists from the USA, Russia, Italy, France, Germany and the Netherlands visit the destination in 10 press trips.

MARCH 2014

In April the Patronat de Turisme organised 10 press trips through which it welcomed 47 journalists from the USA, Russia, Italy, France, Germany and the Netherlands. The journalists visited the Girona area to sample the gastronomic offer of the destination in the case of two journalists from the New York Times, Catalan culture, religion and Easter traditions in the case of Russia's number one television channel, active tourism in the case of Balades and Wanderlust (French and German magazines, respectively), and golf, along with other specific themes and interests.

On the occasion of the Envie de Catalogne de Montpellier promotional event, the Patronat de Turisme invited four French journalists on a weekend trip to discover the destination's tourism offer. For two days, the journalists, from the La vie du rail and Que Tal Paris magazines and from the oopartir.com and vinvinowine.com websites, were shown the accommodation and restaurant offer, along with products such as culture (Dalí Theatre - Museum in Figueres, Girona's old quarter, etc.), gastronomy and activities related to the destination.

The Patronat de Turisme organised these promotional actions targeted at international media outlets with the support and collaboration of tourism organisations and companies from the Girona area. The purpose of these trips is to present the destination and raise its profile through the publication of articles and features in media outlets of the main outbound tourism markets for the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona destinations.
