Press trips

Ten international journalists specialising in tourism, culture and gastronomy visit the Costa Brava.

MARCH 2014

The visit of a group of French journalists specialising in culture to the Costa Brava should be highlighted. The trip marked the holding of an exhibition of works by Josep Maria Sert at the Petit Palais in Paris (from 5 March to 5 August). Given the artist’s relationship with the town of Palamós and several places and areas on the Costa Brava, with the support of organisations from Palamos, the journalists visited places like Castell Beach, Dalí’s Hut, Mas Juny and Palamós Town Hall, where they saw the work Els pescadors de la República (The Fishermen of the Republic).

In the middle of the month, two Swedish journalists from the gastronomic magazine Mat och Vänner and the newspaper Svenska Dagbladet on one hand and, a French journalist from the magazine Gastronomad and the newspaper Le Nouvel Observateur, made separate visits to the city of Girona to discover what the destination has to offer gastronomically. Their brief stay included trips to markets and shops selling food and local products, as well as a visit to the restaurant El Celler de Can Roca.

Finally, a producer from the French satellite television channel Stylia visited La Garrotxa in order to record pictures for the production of a 50-minute travel, culture, gastronomy and lifestyle programme – Du bon, du beau, du bien-être – devoted to Catalonia. This special programme will include a report devoted to the restaurant Les Cols d’Olot and the architectural work carried out by the RCR architects’ studio.

The Patronat de Turisme has organised these publicity and communication actions aimed at international media with the support and involvement of tourism organisations and businesses from the Girona area.
