Press trips

90 journalists from the USA, Canada, Russia, France, Germany, Poland and the Netherlands visit the destination in 20 press trips.

MARCH 2014

In May, the Patronat de Turisme organised 20 press trips through which it welcomed 94 journalists from the USA, Canada, Russia, France, Germany, Poland and the Netherlands.

Noteworthy among these visits were those made by three television channels to film programmes on the area. Canal Évasion, a Canadian channel, filmed footage for a tourism and travel series on Catalonia. During their stay on the Costa Brava, the programme makers filmed in Girona, Figueres, the Dalí Theatre-Museum, the Lloret de Mar vintage car rally and the Medes Islands, from a boat. Deutsche Welle TV, a German channel, spent three days filming beaches in the towns of Lloret de Mar, Tossa de Mar, Palamós and Cadaqués for a programme on the Costa Brava as part of its series entitled "Europe's prettiest beaches". In mid-May, a team from Viajar TV, a Spanish channel, visited the destination to film a programme on the cuisine of the Girona area for its "A mesa puesta" series.

Furthermore, twelve international journalists specialising in golf visited the Girona area in two press trips organised to show them the destination's facilities and golf course services. As a result of these trips, articles and posts have already appeared in publications including Golfbladet (Denmark), Pro Golf Magazine (Finland), and on British websites such as Golfblogger.co.uk and Golfinstaffs.co.uk.

The Patronat de Turisme has organised these promotional actions targeted at international media outlets with the support and collaboration of tourism organisations and companies from the Girona area.
