800 wholesale and retail travel agents from the UK sample the Centenary menu during the ABTA conference taking place in Barcelona from 6th to 8th October.

MARCH 2014

The ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) is holding its annual conference for 800 wholesale and retail travel agents from the UK in Barcelona from 6th to 8th October.

This is the first time for the conference to be held in Catalonia. The operations centre is the CCIB (Barcelona International Conference Centre) at the Forum venue, with the collaboration of several Catalan tourism institutions and organisations.

The Patronat de Turisme is using the conference to promote the Centenary of the Costa Brava and the tourism offer of the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona brands by means of an information area located at the main entrance of the Conference Centre. It is also holding a workshop at the CCIB from 2 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. on 7th October.

The following day, Thursday 8th October, the Patronat de Turisme will serve the association members a meal based on dishes from the Centenary Menu in order for them to sample and get to know the gastronomy of the Costa Brava.

The ABTA was set up in 1950. It currently boasts 1500 members and represents 6,000 travel agencies and tour operators. www.abta.com.
