Preparations underway for the summer season in the Pirineu de Girona

The ski and mountain resorts of the Pirineu de Girona are getting ready for the summer season with the creation of nature-related activity programmes.

MARCH 2014

The 2009 summer activities offered by Girona’s ski and mountain resorts include several hiking routes, tube runs (for sliding down the mountain on an inner tube device called a “tubby”), horse and pony trekking, or Bike Parks, amongst other things. The Bike Parks (mountain biking resorts) set up in La Molina and Vallter 2000 offer sportspeople several signposted MTB routes of varying levels of difficulty. The resorts also offer a bike hire service.

The 2008/2009 ski season, the best in the history of the Pirineu de Girona, comes to an end

At the end of April, the 2008/2009 ski season came to an end for the four Alpine ski resorts of the Pirineu de Girona (La Molina, Masella, Vall de Núria and Vallter 2000) and the Nordic ski resort of Guils de Cerdanya, with a total 879,000 skiers over the six month season.

The pistes of Girona's Alpine ski resorts have remained open for almost six months thanks to the intense and continuous snowfalls that occurred between November 2008 and April 2009. This year, visitors and skiers have enjoyed unbeatable skiing conditions throughout the season, along with a number of top competitions (the FIS Women's Alpine World Cup, the IPC Disabled Alpine World Cup and the LG Snowboard World Cup trials, amongst others) and new activities and services offered by each resort.
