The eighth Pirineus Workshop took place on 24th November in Olot.
This promotional and commercial event, held in a different place each year by the partners of the Pirineus brand, including the Patronat de Turisme, has this year focused on presenting and marketing mainly inland and mountain tourism products to travel agents and wholesale travel companies from the Benelux countries, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Israel.
This commercial and work meeting, held in La Garrotxa, brought together some fifty business professionals from the Catalan tourism sector, mostly companies from the Girona area, and twenty-five European tour operators with the goal of facilitating networking and generating business opportunities.
The Patronat de Turisme represented the area as a whole at the Pirineus Workshop, where it showcased the offer of products (Girona's ski resorts, natural spaces, cultural trails, greenways, hiking, cycle touring, mountain biking, gastronomy, traditions, etc.) and services of the Pirineu de Girona destination. The workshop was preceded by a familiarisation trip from 21st to 23rd November. The trip started in La Cerdanya before moving on to El Ripollès, L’Alt Empordà and ending up in La Garrotxa. The participating tour operators were able to experience the destination and discover its services, facilities and tourism activities, along with the gastronomic, cultural and nature-active tourism offer of the four counties included in the trip. They visited the city of Puigcerdà, discovered the Romanesque heritage of Santa Maria de Ripoll and Sant Joan de les Abadesses, travelled along the Iron Route, sampled the avant-garde and more traditional cuisine of the Pirineu, enjoyed a hot air balloon flight, discovered the Jewish heritage of Besalú and, finally, visited the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres.
