km0 Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona

The promotional initiative will showcase the tourism, oenogastronomic and cultural offer of the counties of Girona directly in nearby outbound tourist markets.

km0 Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona is a promotional initiative designed by the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona to showcase the tourism, oenogastronomic and cultural offer of the counties of Girona directly and interactively in nearby outbound tourist markets.

This initiative, a development of a previous action entitled Girona Viva!, will on this occasion be implemented in markets, although it will subsequently be placed in other venues with a high volume of people traffic and in other parts of Catalonia, Spain and Europe. This time, the km0 Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona campaign is supported by the Municipal Markets Institute and Barcelona Provincial Council.

The km0 Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona exhibition, a showcase for tourism, gastronomy and culture promotion activities, will consist of a compartmentalised space in which visitors can obtain tourism information on the general tourism offer of the area, participate in gastronomic tastings, purchase local food products (including those used in the tastings) and take part in cultural and sports activities related to the tourism offer of the area. The initiative is designed in such a way that visitors can experience the destination before they even get there and serves as a starting point for discovering and enjoying the Costa Brava and the Pirineu de Girona.

The Patronat de Turisme will always be accompanied by other bodies involved in promoting the area, thus transmitting a diverse yet cohesive image. Nineteen tourism bodies and towns from the Girona area are involved in the initiative: the Alt Empordà Tourism Association, the County Council of El Baix Empordà, the County Council of El Gironès and Girona City Council, the Garrotxa Tourism Association, the Ripollès Desenvolupament Consortium – Vall de Núria ski and mountain resort, the County Council of La Cerdanya, the Tourism Association of La Selva, Lloret Turisme, the Municipal Tourism Board of Blanes, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Castell-Platja d’Aro, Calonge-Sant Antoni, Begur, L’Escala-Empúries, Castelló d’Empúries-Empuriabrava, Roses and Banyoles.

The chefs and gastronomes Pep Nogué and Oriol Blanes will be collaborating in the gastronomic and shop area, along with the gastronomic associations of the Girona area: Cuina del Vent, Cuina Volcànica, the Hotel and Restaurant Association of El Ripollès, El Pla de l’Estany Gastronomic Group and Cuina de l’Empordanet.

The promotional initiative will get under way in Barcelona’s Boqueria market on 29th and 30th April with a special guest, namely Gerard Quintana, the singer of the Catalan rock group Sopa de Cabra, who is from Girona. The following shows will be in Sagrada Familia market (6th and 7th May), La Concepció market (from 12th to 14th May) and Torreblanca market in Sant Cugat del Vallès (27th and 29th May).
