#inPyrenees Blogtrip

The first Pirineu de Girona international blogtrip generated 10 million Twitter impressions in a week.

MARCH 2014

The Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, together with tourism bodies and professionals from the inland counties of Girona organised the first Pirineu de Girona international blogtrip, which took place from 26th September to 3rd October. This marketing and communication promotional initiative, in which ten top international bloggers took part, had the clear goal of showcasing the tourism products and services of the Pirineu de Girona destination to millions of tourists, visitors and travellers through social networks. For seven days, the influencers discovered and experienced the nature, culture and gastronomy of the Pirineu de Girona in an intense programme of activities.

The Pirineu de Girona blogtrip, made up of a group of ten opinion leaders with almost 600,000 followers between them (including blogs, Facebook and Twitter links), generated 10 million Twitter impressions in six days and was a worldwide travel trending topic (TT on Wanderlisting) on one occasion.

The participants were ten young travellers who are ready to discover the world, its cultures and people and who inform, communicate and influence through social networks. They are inspired by nature, good cuisine, different and intense experiences, authenticity and originality. These opinion leaders enjoy sharing their experiences with others and have turned their passion for discovering new places into a job.

The #InPyrenees blogtrip had an influence in the blogosphere during, before and after the trip with publications in social networks; in just four weeks there have been 22 posts, eight of which were on the Lonely Planet website, the world's leading online travel and tourism medium.
