Golf in the Costa Brava

The Spanish Open returns to the PGA Catalunya Resort from 15 to 18 May.

This is the third occasion in the last fourteen years that the PGA Catalunya Resort has hosted the tournament. In 2000 and 2009, the other years the Open has been held at the course, the number of participants and audience totalled around 40,000. Similar numbers are expected this year. The competition is part of the European professional golf circuit, and the substantial number of top players taking part will draw large audiences.

The course at the PGA Catalunya Resort is an idyllic setting for top-level sports events, providing the Costa Brava destination with a further opportunity for promoting golf and tourism together.

The Spanish Open was inaugurated in Madrid on March 18 at a presentation attended by the event’s main organisers and promoters, including the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, the Catalan Golf Federation, the Government of Catalonia, Girona Provincial Council, the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board, and the management of the PGA Catalunya Resort golf course.
