Girona Viva! in Madrid

From 28th to 30th May, twenty organisations and companies from the Girona tourism sector, together with ten gastronomic organisations and food companies from the area, are promoted in Madrid at the Girona Viva! fair.

Girona Viva!, the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona tourism and gastronomy fair, is held on 28th, 29th and 30th May in Madrid’s central Jacinto Benavente Square. Tourism information will be handed out and gastronomic tasting sessions will be held over the course of this three-day fair aimed at the general public.

A new feature at this year’s fair, aimed at associating certain products with the area, is a stand displaying crafts and food products that are available for visitors to purchase.

The participating organisations and tourism companies from the Girona area are as follows: the tourism offices of Blanes, Tossa de Mar, Figueres, L’Escala–Empúries, Sant Antoni de Calonge, Roses and Puigcerdà; Lloret Turisme; the county councils of Alt Empordà, Baix Empordà, La Selva, El Ripollès, El Pla de l’Estany, El Gironès and La Cerdanya; the Garrotxa Tourism association, the Vall de Núria resort, Girona Rural Tourism, Costa Brava Verd Hotels and Solineu Hotels. Meanwhile, several gastronomic organisations are also taking part, including Cuina Remença (Peasant Cuisine) of the Vall d’en Bas, Cuina Volcànica (Volcanic Cuisine), Cuina Jueva (Jewish Cuisine) of Besalú, La Cuina del Vent (Cuisine of the Wind), Club de Gastronomia del Gironès, Bons Fogons (Good Stoves), La Selva Gastronòmica, Aula d'Hostaleria del Ripollès, Club de Gastronomia del Pla de l’Estany and the Anxoves de l’Escala association.

At 12 noon on Friday 28th May the official opening of the fair takes place and will be attended by Enric Vilert, President of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, along with several dignitaries from the city of Madrid. The opening hours of the tourism fair are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
