MARCH 2014

The event served to pay tribute to the longest-serving establishments of the Turisme Rural Girona association and to present the association’s first set of prizes for the publicising, dissemination and promotion of rural tourism, awarded to media outlets, organisations or institutions that in one way or another have raised the profile of rural tourism.

The “Girona Rural Tourism Evening” was a social event that brought together 150 people from the tourism sector of the Girona area. The aim of the event was to strengthen contacts between the associated establishments and the various local agents involved in the fostering and promotion of rural tourism.

Several Girona entities and companies were keen to contribute to the organisation of the Girona Tourism Evening, including the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona. The evening’s gastronomic fare was provided by Besalú Town Council, the Cuina Volcànica de la Garrotxa collective and the Besalú Gastronòmica association with a selection of nibbles combined with wines from the Empordàlia cellar.

This year’s prizes went to:

- Prize for the Promotion and Fostering of Rural Tourism: Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona.

- Prize for the Publicising of Rural Tourism: The Què Fem? supplement of La Vanguardia newspaper.

- Prize for the Dissemination of Rural Tourism: The TV3 series Ventdelplà.
