Awards for Vicenç Andreu, the Peralada Group and business people from the Girona Pyrenees at the tourism gala of the counties of Girona

The ceremony of the 8^th G! Awards was held at the Espai Ter venue in Torroella de Montgrí on 19^th December 2013. The event was attended by the President of Girona Provincial Council and of the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board, the Minister for Enterprise and Employment of the Government of Catalonia, the Mayor of Torroella de Montgrí, managing directors, councillors of Girona Provincial Council and members of the Tourist Board, local council and tourist office technicians, business people, media outlets and, last but not least, the award winners.

Following the recent commemoration of the 30^th anniversary of the creation of the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park, the ceremony featured a tribute to the natural parks of the Girona area, highlighting the excellent work that they carry out in terms of protection, dissemination and promotion.

This annual gala event, bringing together over 200 people, is a celebration of the Girona tourism sector.

• 8^th Josep Pujol i Aulí Professional Contribution Award: Mr Vicenç Andreu i Sancho, professional of the hotel and restaurant sector and lecturer at the Girona School of Hotel Management and Catering.
   
• 8^th Xiquet Sabater Business Project Award: Peralada Group.
   
• 2^nd Jordi Comas i Matamala Special Award: Concepció Ferrarons and Hermenegildo Vilaseca, of the Solineu Hotels business group.
   
• 8^th Communication Award of the Counties of Girona (print media category): Deutsche Presse Agentur, Manuel Meyer (Germany).
   
• 8^th Communication Award of the Counties of Girona (audiovisual media category): the travel documentary "Alle falde del Kilimangiaro: Catalogna", RAI 3 (Italy).
   
• 2^nd Communication Award of the Counties of Girona (digital media category): Hole in the Donut Cultural Travel Blog, Barbara Ann Weibel (USA).
   
• 4^th Yvette Barbaza Research Award: "Natural, architectural and social chromatic heritage of the Costa Brava", a study by Núria Puig and Íngrid Baraut.

This 8^th tourism gala evening was organised by the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board with the support of Torroella de Montgrí-L’Estartit Town Council and La Caixa.
