Fresh impetus for inland gastronomy

The promotion of the gastronomy of the Pirineu de Girona is given a boost with a joint initiative between Ripollès Desenvolupament and the Patronat de Turisme.

The Patronat de Turisme and the Aula d‘Hostaleria del Ripollès, a catering training facility, have signed an agreement to publicise and promote Girona's mountain cuisine through actions organised both locally and elsewhere. 

The Patronat and the Aula d’Hostaleria are collaborating to consolidate the Aula as a meeting point and a place for gastronomic analysis and reflection, with the purpose of promoting local cuisine, improving its quality and, in short, improving and broadening the varied mountain tourism offer.

The Aula will collaborate with the Patronat on promotional actions related to the gastronomic tourism offer and that of the Pirineu de Girona, including tasting sessions held in the tourist issuing markets of the brands.

The Aula makes its facilities available to the Patronat for the hosting of events with food journalists and other events related to the world of gastronomy. The Aula will meet the Patronat’s requests to organise training sessions or cooking demonstrations for the Patronat’s guests and will provide gastronomic consultancy services.

By virtue of the signed collaboration agreement, the Patronat will pay the Aula d’Hostaleria del Ripollès a total amount of 6,000 euros for the fulfilment of the aforementioned tasks. The signed agreement is initially in force until 31st December 2009 and can be extended for successive one-year periods if so agreed by the parties.

The Patronat’s Action Plan includes actions aimed at structuring the tourism offer of the area, creating new tourism products and boosting their presence in the main issuing markets. The aim is to improve competitiveness, reduce the seasonal nature of demand and enhance the tourism offer of the area.
