Food and wine promotional events in Barcelona

The Mercat de Mercats fair and the Gran Tast de Vins de Tramuntana wine tasting

Nine Girona tourism organisations along with several Girona food companies participated in Barcelona’s 6th Mercat de Mercats food fair, celebrated in front of the city’s cathedral from 23 to 25 October, showcasing Girona’s world-renowned food and wine through information, tastings and workshops for both Barcelona locals and tourists. Two areas of Girona’s extensive range of attractions were featured at the fair. First, information about the destination was provided to organisations that promote regional and municipal tourism; the region was also promoted as a home to fine food and wine through the display and tastings of products sold under the Girona  Excel·lent label. The food fair was immediately followed by the 4th Gran Tast de Vins de Tramuntana, held in the Plaça Comercial of Barcelona’s Born Market on 26 October. Organised by the DO Empordà Regulatory Council, this large-scale tasting present the newest DO Empordà wines to over 800 attendees. The DO Empordà Wine Route also participated by distributing information on the extensive wine tourism options available on the Costa Brava.
