Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona, business tourism destination

The Girona Convention Bureau, with the collaboration of the Patronat de Turisme, presents the best that Girona has to offer in terms of business tourism in a presentation in Barcelona for 200 professionals from the sector.

The Girona Convention Bureau, with the collaboration of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, held a promotional business event entitled "Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona, business tourism destination" on Wednesday 17th November in the evening, in Barcelona's Casa Llotja de Mar (old trading hall).

The event was attended by 200 guests, including event organisers, marketing and human resources managers from large Catalan and international companies with headquarters in Barcelona, conference professionals and business tourism professionals from the Girona area, who were given a presentation of the best that the area has to offer in terms of business tourism.

Specific services were also presented by the associated companies of the Girona Convention Bureau who took part in the event: the Girona Auditorium and Conference Centre, the Meliá Girona and Meliá Golf Vichy Catalán hotels, Finca Fitor, the Meetings among Volcanoes association of Olot, the Lloret Convention Bureau, Evenia Hotels, Guitart Monterrey, Hotel Santa Marta, Hotel Molí del Mig and Parador d’Aiguablava.

The event host was the writer and journalist Martí Gironell and speakers included the President of the Girona Chamber of Commerce, Domènec Espadalé, and the President of Girona Provincial Council and of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, Enric Vilert. The opening presentation also featured personalities from the world of gastronomy, such as Joan Roca, owner and chef of the restaurant El Celler de Can Roca, and from the business sector, such as Dídac Lee, Managing Director of Inspirit and a director of FC Barcelona.

Other well-known cultural and sports personalities, including Miquel Suñer, Josep Lluís Blanco and Ivan Tibau, lent their support by attending the event.

An audiovisual production promoting the destination was also shown. In addition to the personalities who attended the event, it featured well-known names from the world of gastronomy (Ferran Adrià), culture (Antoni Pitxot and Eudald Carbonell) and sport (Tommy Robredo), among others, acting as ambassadors of the counties of Girona and adding value to the business tourism product.

The event ended with a tasting of dishes featuring products from the Girona area, produced by the Alt Empordà Catering School.
