Wine and gastronomy tourism in the province of Girona and the Tourist Board’s digital promotional strategy: case studies for tourist destinations

Representatives of the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board spoke at an international congress and at a summer course held in July. Basquetour, the Basque Country’s most important tourism promotion body, invited the Tourist Board, the la Vinyeta winery and Olot Town Council to take part in a Gastronomy Tourism Forum held on 15 and 16 July in San Sebastián for the region’s tourism professionals. The Board gave a presentation on Girona’s tourist attractions and discussed its strategies for developing wine and gastronomy tourism in the province. Then, from 21 to 23 July, the Board took part for the first time in the DMAI (Destination Marketing Association International) Annual Convention held in Las Vegas, attended by 1,400 marketing and digital communication professionals, bloggers and opinion leaders. The Tourist Board presented its digital promotional strategy, which is coming to be regarded as an international benchmark.
