MARCH 2014

The Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona and Turisme de Catalunya attended the Jazzaldia Festival in San Sebastian as “guest country” representatives, participating with musical performances, gastronomic tasting sessions and a promotional information stand for festival visitors.

Specifically, the Patronat de Turisme and Turisme de Catalunya installed a 50 m2 information area on the terraces of the Kursaal Centre where tourism information on Catalan destinations, in particular those of the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona, was handed out to visitors over the course of four days. The Basque public is traditionally knowledgeable about the counties of Girona and shows particular interest in outdoor activities and direct contact with nature such as hiking, cycle tourism and cultural visits. Furthermore, the Girona area receives visitors from the Basque region all year round who appreciate the area’s rich and varied gastronomy.
Furthermore, a 100 m2 area entitled Catalunya Topaleuka Donostia was installed where Catalan food products were made available for tasting and purchase.

As part of Jazzaldia, the Patronat de Turisme and Turisme de Catalunya hosted an evening reception for the Basque authorities and media at the Catalonia-Costa Brava venue on Thursday 23rd July. They also hosted a lunch for 50 Basque travel agents on Friday 24th July in which the Catalan tourism offer was presented, in particular that of the Costa Brava on the occasion of its Centenary.

The festival’s schedule of performances is wide-ranging and does not only include jazz but also welcomes other musical genres. Catalonia-Costa Brava’s contribution to the festival consisted of concerts by Catalan groups within the festival schedule performed by Els Cremats, the Andreu Martínez Project, Miyagi and Albert Fibla.
