Carmen Thyssen Space

The exhibition at the Carmen Thyssen Space in Sant Feliu de Guíxols receives over 10,000 visitors in its first month

MARCH 2014

"Sisley-Kandinsky-Hopper. Carmen Thyssen Collection" is an exhibition featuring 50 works spanning a century (from the mid 19th century to the mid 20th century), produced by 40 different artists.

From Romantic landscape painting to expressionist and abstract art, the rooms bring together North American, European and Catalan painting. The exhibition also offers a good overview of the main strands of the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza art collection and highlights her close relationship with this Baix Empordà town.

The exhibition will be open to the public until 13th October at the Palau de l'Abat, which forms part of the recently restored monastic complex of the monastery of Sant Feliu de Guíxols.

In the first month since its opening, the "Sisley-Kandinsky-Hopper. Carmen Thyssen Collection" exhibition has already received 10,000 visitors. According to the figures provided by the Sant Feliu de Guíxols Tourist Office, 47% of the visitors to the exhibition (the second to be held in the Carmen Thyssen space in Sant Feliu de Guíxols) came from within Catalonia, a sizeable percentage came from France (29%) and 8.2% came from other parts of Spain, followed by Great Britain, Germany and the Netherlands.

Girona Provincial Council and the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board contributed to publicising the exhibition.
