MARCH 2014

Entitled A summer of festivals and gastronomy. Costa Brava 2010, this guidebook published by the Patronat de Turisme includes popular, traditional and significant festivals and events that are held in various towns of the Costa Brava. Twelve of these events are included in the Costa Brava San Miguel Gastronomic Tour and an explanation is given of their origin and contents. The guide also suggests sites of cultural and natural heritage that can be visited in the surrounding area of the towns. These twelve festivals are celebrated over a period stretching from May to September.

A further twelve festivals and traditions that are celebrated over the course of the year are also featured with the aim of enabling visitors to discover other festivals on the Costa Brava. Some are deep-rooted ancient or mediaeval festivals, some are associated with cultural rituals and others have been created more recently, but what they all have in common is a wish to share the festive spirit in a popular and welcoming atmosphere. Last of all, the guide includes the four traditional festivals held in towns of the Costa Brava that have been declared festivals of national interest.

This guide has been published in four languages: Catalan, Spanish, French and English. It is distributed through the tourism offices of the towns in question and at the Costa Brava San Miguel Gastronomic Tour stand.
