Inauguration of the Food & Wine Club

Gastronomy and oenology from Girona enter the world of tourism to increase the destination’s quality, competitiveness and prestige.

club-enogastronomia-forum-01 On November 15, as part of the Girona 2015 Gastronomic Forum conference program and at the beginning of the presentation entitled "The World in the kitchen of El Celler de Can Roca" by Joan Roca, the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board presented the basis for creating the Food & Wine Marketing Club to more than six hundred people. Gastronomy and oenology from Girona enter the world of tourism with the creation of Food & Wine Marketing Club which will unite, structure and market a range of specific tourism products to increase the quality, competitiveness and prestige of the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees destination. Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees Food & Wine Club will be the eighth marketing club promoted by Girona’s main tourism board, just when the province’s gastronomy is reaching a summit in terms of excellence and popularity as a result of several outstanding achievements: El Celler de Can Roca achieving the first place in the ranking of the world’s fifty best restaurants for the second time running

  • the renaissance of wines from the Empordà of the highest quality and with progressive increasing exports
  • the creation of the club DO Empordà Wine Route, which promotes wine tourism in the Costa Brava
  • the designation of "Catalonia, European Gastronomy Region 2016"
  • the area’s quality food products, many of which have been awarded seals and are protected
  • the proliferation of themed events, such as fairs, campaigns, conferences, and the like.
  • the promotion of gastronomic research and innovative projects such as the Roca brothers’ "La Masia", or Ferran Adrià’s "El Bulli Foundation,”
  • the passion for creating restaurant and hotel associations and cooperatives (up to ten in the province of Girona), that are working to protect and disseminate local cuisine as well as education for a healthy and sustainable diet.
Subsequently, the Tourism Board unveiled the new product marketing club for local businesses through a series of presentations.
