Some twenty professionals from the Girona tourism sector participated in the training day entitled “Profitability of a spa and the art of recommending”.

On 12th April the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona organised a training day for professionals and technicians from the tourism sector entitled “Profitability of a spa and the art of recommending” at Hotel Carlemany in Girona.

Some twenty professionals of the sector, mostly members of the Health and Beauty Product Marketing Association of the Patronat, attended this training day which aimed to make them see the spa of a hotel as an additional business unit and to train them in recommending additional services and products of their establishments to customers.

The training day focused on two separate issues; one technical and the other of a more commercial nature. The first part of the day was devoted to the “profitability of a spa”. The main aspects dealt with were as follows: the definition of a spa as a business unit of the hotel; the linking of spa services to the remaining services of the hotel; the promotion, publicising and marketing of spas through the distribution channels of the market; and evaluating services.

The second part of the day focused on “the art of recommending a spa” and on techniques for selling products and services to customers of hotels with spas. The training day was led by Helena Subietas, National Sales Manager of the Natura Bissé company in Barcelona.

Participants took an active part in the session through the presentation of practical and hypothetical cases that enabled them to implement the techniques learned during the day.

Training courses form part of the goal of the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona to foster the continuous training of tourism sector professionals and to increase the competitiveness of Girona's tourism industry so that it has the necessary tools to maintain its standing as leading international tourist destination.
