Web 2.0 Tools

The Patronat de Turisme has joined the social networks Facebook and Tripadvisor in order to communicate with end customers through competitions, debates and blogs, starting from 10th July.

The Patronat de Turisme has joined the social networks Facebook and Tripadvisor as a tool for promoting products and companies of the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona, enabling direct and agile communication with end customers.

The Facebook page made available to users by the Patronat de Turisme is dynamic and interactive. It is based on the premise of discovering and acquiring knowledge of the Girona area and its tourism products and services through offers and competitions. The page contains photos, videos and interactive spaces for debate, amongst other things, which serve as a platform for the user’s knowledge of the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona destinations. Through its Facebook presence, the Patronat aims to attract potential end customers from Catalonia and the rest of Spain.

Tripadvisor is the travel website with the largest number of users in the world. It collects opinions and offers advice on tourist destinations and tourism services and products. The Patronat de Turisme has created an account through which it offers advice and responds to requests for information on the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona destinations. The Patronat provides this service in English in order to reach users from all over the world.

With these Web 2.0 tools the Patronat’s communication strategy is moving with the times and reaching out to potential visitors to the Girona area. In order to make the very most of the Facebook page the Patronat has enlisted the support of several companies and tourism organisations from the area that contribute both with competition prizes and by redirecting users from other networks.
