The Visions of the Mediterranean concert was a joint initiative by the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona and the Porta Ferrada International Festival and brought together several Mediterranean voices with the aim of highlighting the Mediterranean personality of the Costa Brava. The show featured some of the most emblematic and renowned singer/songwriters of the Mediterranean countries: Joan Manel Serrat, Noa, Maria del Mar Bonet, Gino Paoli, Franca Massu and Savina Yannatou, accompanied by the Festival Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by Joan Albert Amargós.

The Centenary concert was attended by 1,700 people including politicians, such as José Montilla, President of the Catalan Government, the Catalan ministers for Culture, Justice and Social Action and the mayors of the towns of the Costa Brava. Important cultural representatives were also present, such as Jaume Lanaspa, of La Caixa Foundation, and the director of the Thyssen Museum, along with representatives of economic and social organisations, including Antoni Peris, director of Gas Natural, and the directors of the newspapers El Periódico, La Razón and El País. Prior to the concert, the Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona, presided over by Enric Vilert, hosted a reception on the terrace of the Nautical Club for VIPs attending the event.

As in the case of previous concerts included in the “Musical Nights of the Centenary”, the Patronat de Turisme took the opportunity to install an information stand in the port area where information and promotional material on the Centenary and the tourism offer of the Costa Brava was offered to those attending the event.
