The ski season in the Girona Pyrenees

The ski resorts of Girona province closed the season satisfactorily with 912,030 skiers.

JUNE 2019

The five ski resorts in Girona province gave a satisfactory score to the 2018-2019 season, which closed with a total of 912,030 skiers (6.6% fewer than in the previous season). Early snowfalls in the autumn made it possible to start the season in the first weekend of November. The snow-making network of the alpine ski resorts and the snowfalls of March and April enabled some resorts to extend the season until 1 May. Diversification of resorts’ services, adaptation of prices to match social demand and ongoing investment in facilities were also reasons for the exceptional final balance of the winter season in the Girona Pyrenees. The eventual user numbers for the 2018-2019 season can be broken down by resort as follows: Masella, 403,621 skiers; La Molina, 330,874; Vall de Núria, 115,577 (visits); Vallter 2000, 55,025; and Guils Fontanera, 6,933. When the ski season ends, the resorts of La Molina, Vall de Núria and Vallter 2000 become mountain resorts and adapt their facilities and services for the spring and summer season.
