The Centenary of the Costa Brava sponsors the brig Cyrano

The Patronat de Turisme Costa Brava Girona is supporting the brig Cyrano project by placing the Centenary logo on one of its sails.

MARCH 2014

As part of the Centenary celebrations, the Patronat de Turisme is continuing to lend its support to initiatives that promote the Costa Brava destination locally. This applies to the brig Cyrano project, which focuses on explaining the day-to-day life of people who have lived off the sea.

The Cyrano, built in 1989, is a spectacular replica vessel of the old brigs that made overseas voyages. With its mere physical presence the Cyrano is a striking vessel thanks to more than 400 m2 of sails and a large deck equipped with artillery. The hold, meanwhile, completes the period recreation of the vessel.

The schedule of activities includes short voyages along part or all of the Costa Brava, pedagogical activities for schoolchildren to make them familiar with overseas voyages in former times and dramatized visits for the general public. The range of activities shows the day-to-day life of the Girona coastline from the 18th to the 20th century.
