2,023 participants in over sixty activities programmed in 40 different municipalities.
The second edition of Som Cultura (“We are Culture”), the cultural experiences festival held throughout the province of Girona, clocked up a total of 2,023 participants in the sixty-odd activities programmed in 40 municipalities, achieving 66.1% occupancy. This year, the selection of original activities proposed to discover the wide range of culture, local heritage and entertainment throughout the province were grouped under four themes —We are Family Culture, We are Popular Culture, We are Active Culture and We are Heritage Culture—, with the aim of offering a varied, thematically linked programme, suitable for different types of audiences. The children’s workshop ‘marathon’ in Plaça de la Constitució in Girona, with 300 kids; Carles & Sofia Piano Duo’s concert in Girona Cathedral, with an audience of 300 people; #InstaCultura, the Instagrammers’ event to photograph Salvador Dalí’s Figueres, with over a hundred participants, or the guided tour to discover the history and legends of Torroella de Montgrí, with about eighty participants, were the events that drew the largest number of people. In the course of the festival, twenty activities sold out completely. This second edition of Som Cultura has been assessed as highly positive by local councils, organizations, venues and the cultural companies belonging to the Culture and Identity Club and the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board of Girona Provincial Council. Consequently, a third edition of the festival is scheduled, with new additions to the programme.
