Ski Season 2015-2016

Girona’s ski resorts close the 2015-16 season with satisfactory results and registering a total of 734,682 skiers.

MAY 2016

The lack of snowfall that delayed the start of the ski season in the Catalan Pyrenees had only a slight effect on the number of users and visitors to Girona’s ski resorts compared to the 2014-15 season. The resorts registered a total of 734,682 skiers this year, down 3.05% from last season. La Molina registered 238,131 skiers, Vall de Núria 29,642, Vallter 2000 28,526, La Masella 393,000 and Guils Fontanera 383. A number of important events were also celebrated this year, including the finals of the Alpine Skiing European Cup, the Catalonia Para-Alpine Skiing Championship and the BCN SnowPride at La Molina. The Vall de Núria resort hosted the CronoNúria and Skimarathon activities, while the first ski trip for singles, the V Oncoesquiada and World Snow Day were celebrated at Vallter 2000; the Guils Fontanera resort welcomed events like the Catalonia Snowshoe Championship and the night time snowshoe event.
