The Costa Brava’s high-end tourism offer is marketed for the first time to the Mexican market.
The Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board took part for the first time in the Mexico roadshow through the Unique Premium marketing club from 25 to 29 November. The aim of the event, organised by the Catalan Tourism Agency in Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico City, was to establish contact with representatives of the country's luxury travel agencies and to explore the potential of this growing market for the Costa Brava destination.
The trade mission was made up of a delegation of thirteen Catalan tourism organisations and companies, including the Tourist Board and Evenia Hotels, and aimed to strengthen the positioning of the Catalonia destination in this market after the BUY Catalonia Mexico 2023 event was held in Barcelona. At the same time, the action focused on presenting a diverse offer that would showcase the destination's most select, exclusive and unique experiences.
During the event, meetings were held with travel agents who showed interest in finding out about tailor-made cultural and gastronomic proposals and experiences, as well as the accommodation on offer at charming boutique hotels on the Costa Brava.
Regular flights between the two countries have increased in the last two years, bringing in a greater number of visitors from Mexico. According to the Catalan Tourism Agency's Intel·litur, Catalonia received 171,000 Mexican tourists in 2023. This visitor is interested in exploring urban destinations, local gastronomy and culture, as well as shopping. The average expenditure per person per day for Mexican tourists is 255 euros, 26 euros more than foreign tourists in general in Catalonia.
