Promotional actions in the media

Ten specific press trips showcase the destination’s tourism offer to 33 journalists from France, Italy and Germany.

MARCH 2014

In April, the Patronat, together with the Catalan Tourism Agency and Spanish tourist offices abroad, and with the support of several tourism organisations and companies from the Girona area, organised ten press trips with different themes for thirty-three journalists from France, Germany, Holland and Italy. Through these press trips the Patronat aims to publicise its tourism products and services abroad, along with new features in the tourism offer of the Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona destinations.

In line with the campaign implemented by the Directorate General for Tourism for the promotion of the stretch of the Way of Saint James that crosses the counties of Girona, and at the request of the Catalan Tourism Agency, the Patronat organised a press trip for nine Italian journalists from a range of publications (Oasis, Atmosphere, Progress Viaggi, Weekend Viaggi o Medioevo). The schedule of activities included visits to places and monuments along the Way of Saint James in the Girona area, such as the towns and cities of El Port de la Selva, Peralada, Figueres and Girona, and monasteries, including those of Sant Pere de Rodes and Vilabertran.

Two French journalists from the Ultrafondus and Trail Attitude magazines, specialised in sports and active tourism activities, participated as runners and reporters for several media outlets in the second Costa Brava Xtrem Running athletics race, after which they extended their stay in the area to write up tourism articles on the Costa Brava destination.

Meanwhile, the March edition of Mucho Viaje magazine (readership of 87,368) published a five-page spread on the Costa Brava in a special “Easter Plans” section, entitled “Love at first sight”. This article describes a route from Blanes to Portbou with practical information and recommendations for readers. This article is the result of the press trip made by the journalist Menchu Redondo to the area last year.
