Promotion in Switzerland

The Costa Brava is promoted as a wine and fine cuisine destination at the Lugano Città del Gusto forum.

From 13 to 23 September the Swiss city of Lugano hosted the Città del Gusto culinary forum, an event that featured a space for exhibitions, workshops and conferences and at which the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board, the chef Joan Roca —from the El Celler de Can Roca restaurant— and the University of Girona took part with two talks aimed at establishing the Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees as benchmark European wine and fine cuisine destinations. Girona’s participation began on Friday 14 September with a talk open to the public entitled “Chair of Cuisine, Culture and Tourism”, given by Joan Roca, owner of El Celler de Can Roca; Sílvia Aulet, doctor in Tourism from the University of Girona, and Lorenzo Cantoni, professor from the Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI). Jaume Dulsat, deputy president of the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board, and Joan Roca then gave a talk entitled “Cuisine as a driver for tourism” to around eighty professionals from the restaurant and catering industry and specialist journalists. The participation of Girona ended with a session for tasting wine and fine cuisine products from Girona and another that gave speakers and attendees the chance to network.
