Around eighty travel agents and event organisers from Denmark showed their interest in golf tourism, sports tourism and MICE tourism.
The Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board organised a three-fold promotional and commercial mission in the Danish city of Copenhagen on 29th and 30th October with the aim of promoting the golf, sport and business tourism offering of the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees among some eighty Danish travel agents and event organisers.
On the afternoon of Tuesday 29th October, a workshop was held to present the sports tourism and congress, meeting and event tourism offer of the Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees, with the participation of eleven companies and organisations from Girona and thirty agents and meeting planners and organisers of sporting and corporate events. The Girona representation was led by Zel Costa Brava, Peralada Resort, Park Hotel San Jorge by Escampa Hotels, Hotel Carlemany Girona, Sallés Hotels, Peralada Resort, La Costa Beach & Golf Resort, Empordà Golf Club, Evenia Hotels, GIGS & Turismon, L'Escala Tourist Office and Lloret Turisme; among the Danish agents there were representatives from specialised agencies such as Travelpool, Alive. dk, MiEvent, Sies, ClassicGolf, CWT Meeting & Events, Marine Travel, Second Wave Travel and Ophelix Scandinavia. The professional meeting was enlivened with a tasting of AO Empordà wines by Glops d'Història, followed by a tasting of local food and wine products prepared by Abricoc.
Earlier in the day, a networking lunch was held to promote the Costa Brava's range of golf courses on offer, aimed at a dozen Danish and Swedish travel agents specialising in the sector, including Nordic Golfers, Green2Green, Caddie Golfrejser, Classic Golf, Easton Golf AB, Golf Plaisir, Sport2Event and Mulligan Golf Travel. Representatives from Peralada Resort, Empordà Golf Club, Golf de Pals, Park Hotel San Jorge and Hotel Carlemany Girona took part in the event, which generated interesting business opportunities.
Finally, on Wednesday 30 October, a networking presentation on the destination's cycling offer was organised for around fifty specialised travel agents, clubs and associations from Denmark. Seven Girona-based companies and institutions from the sector took part in the event: Eat Sleep Cycle, Gran Fondo Community, Empordà Golf-Hotel Terraverda, Zel Costa Brava, Hotel Carlemany Girona, Lloret Turisme and L’Escala Tourist Office.
This initiative, scheduled as part of the organisation's 2024 Action Plan, sought to target the Danish issuing market in a segmented way, with the collaboration of the Catalan Tourism Agency and Turespaña.
