22 international journalists specialised in tourism, culture, golf, and health and wellness visit the Girona area
Two German journalists, one from the KNA (Katholische Nachrichten Agentur) news agency and one from the AlParaiso magazine, visited the destination at the start of the month over the Easter break. They visited several towns in the Girona area to discover at first hand its traditional Catalan Easter processions. Girona city council and Verges town council were active in organising these professional visits, on which comprehensive photo features were subsequently published.
Furthermore, five Italian journalists from La Repubblica, Turismo.it, Viaggi La Stampa and Corriere dell’Umbria, took part in a cultural press trip to the Costa Brava in mid-April, coinciding with the holding of an exhibition of Salvador Dalí's works at Rome's Vittoriano museum (from 9th March to 1st July). Along with visits to the three sites that make up the Dalí triangle and an interview with the artist Antoni Pitxot, honorary president of the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation, the press trip included a tasting of DO Empordà wines at the Mas Estela wine cellar and cultural visits to mediaeval towns in the Empordà area (Pals, Peratallada, Begur) and to Girona.
As regards more product-specific press trips, two Health and Beauty promotional events took place in April to promote the destination, attended by journalists from two Spanish media outlets: In Touch and Prettyaddict.com. Meanwhile, a group of golf journalists from the UK, Holland and Austria made a four-day tour of golf courses on the Costa Brava. Following the visit, GolfPunk, Golf, Travel Fever and Golfreiswijzer.nl, among other media outlets, published substantial features on the destination.
