MARCH 2014

The Patronat de Turisme organised four press trips in July, welcoming 20 journalists from the USA, France and China.

One of the most noteworthy visits was by some American journalists, two of whom were Lucy Komisar and Larry Bridwell, who write for Travel Lady Magazine, an online magazine devoted to luxury travel with a Google Page Rank of 6/10. During a press trip to Madrid and Barcelona, they visited the area to discover its tourism and cultural offer. Meanwhile, Jackie Cooperman, a freelance journalist and frequent contributor to The New York Times, T travel magazine, The Financial Times, How To Spend It and The Wall Street Journal, contacted the Patronat de Turisme while enjoying a family holiday in the Girona area to request logistical support in the professional aspects of her trip.

Another highlight was the visit made by various Chinese media outlets, namely CCTV and Sanlian Shenghuo Zhoukan, a television channel and weekly general information publication, respectively, which enjoy coverage throughout the Republic of China, and the www.sina.com website, a current affairs website that receives 800 million visits every day. The freelance journalists Qun Chen and Qiao Shu visited Catalonia on a gastronomy-themed trip that featured an interview with Ferran Adrià at his restaurant, El Bulli.

As regards French journalists, writers for the magazines La vie est belle magazine, L’esperit du voyage and Art Gazette International, and the websites www.forumopera.com, www.coteloisirs.com and www.toutpourlesfemmes.com, visited Catalonia on an art and music-themed trip.

The Patronat de Turisme organised these promotional initiatives targeted at international media outlets with the support and collaboration of tourism organisations and companies from the Girona area.
