New tool: Tourism Data System

The province launches its first tool for gathering data on occupancy in Girona’s tourist accommodations

The Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board and the province’s four tourist accommodation associations –the Federació d’Hostaleria, Associació d’Apartaments Turístics, Turisme Rural de Girona and the Associació de Càmpings de Girona– have purchased and launched the Tourism Data System in order to gather data on occupancy in Girona’s tourist accommodations. The tool will provide regional businesses with more up-to-date data on tourism and a source of reliable information to guide their strategic decisions. The tool, developed by the Science and Technology Park for Tourism and Leisure at the University of Rovira i Virgili and implemented in destinations such as the Costa Dorada and Costa de Barcelona, will allow public and private tourism organisations in Girona to have immediate, accurate and official information on tourism throughout the province. With the aim of introducing this new tool in tourist establishments, the Tourist Board hosted a series of information sessions on the system for tourist accommodation organisations and business in Puigcerdà, Olot, Girona, Roses, Palamós, and Lloret de Mar.
